for a balanced life

AMANDA OWEN

Amanda’s calling to yoga started in 1991 following her career as an acrobat and physical theatre performer. In 2004 Amanda qualified to teach at the Yoga Academy with Simon Low (Triyoga) and she is accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga.

She has been inspired by the teachers she has studied with in England and Australia in the Iyengar, Shadow and Ashtanga Yoga traditions including Pattabhi Jois but she cites her main influence as the teachings of Desikichar.

She enjoys working with people one to one and designing individual yoga programmes for them according to their specific circumstances. In 2008 she will graduate as a Yoga Therapist from the Yoga Biomedical Trust and the Life Centre to work with clients on individual mental and physical health issues.

Amanda has taught yoga to a range of different groups internationally, including clients from the corporate, health club and gym sector, prisoners, actors and children. She is based in North London and teaches general as well as specific needs and remedial classes.  Amanda engages with each individual, conveying her joy of teaching with a warm, enthusiastic and communicative style which is easy, clear and rewarding to experience.
